Homicide - 600 Blk of Selkirk, Oct 10

HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION                 C10-232651
On Sunday, October 10th, 2010 at approximately 4:20 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service Uniform Members along with Emergency Services Personnel responded to a report of a shooting that had occurred in the 600 block of Selkirk Avenue. 
 
Upon arrival, police located a 21 year old female suffering from what appeared to be a gun shot wound.  This female was transported to the hospital in critical condition and she has since succumbed to her injuries. 
 
This investigation is ongoing by members of the Homicide Unit and anyone who may have information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators at 986-6508 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
 
As a result of this investigation, Selkirk Avenue between Parr Street and McKenzie Street will be closed for several hours.  Motorists and pedestrians are requested to refrain for congesting this area and to choose alternate routes. 
 
This investigation is in its very early stage and therefore no further information will be provided.
