Autobins - Illegal Dumping of furniture and Overflowing bins.

Autobins  behind 142 Scotia (T-lane junction) and 25 Inkster (1st bin from Scotia lane)

The City has identified these bins as being particularly problematic, for the following reasons

  • Furniture, mattresses etc. are abandoned around them (or put in the bin)
  • Bins are filled to overflowing.
Last week a 3-seater Blue Couch was dumped behind 142/138 Scotia.

Anything dumped around an autobin stays there until someone contacts 311. complains, and asks the City to pick it up (as what happened last week with the blue 3-seater couch.).  As well, it’s offensive to the neighbour hosting the bin to have their property treated as a dump.

Today a green chesterfield has been dumped in to the 25 Inkster bin!

Furniture  in autobins fills the bin prevents neighbours from dumping their legitimate household trash, resulting in an overflowing bin.

Again, the City will need to be asked to specifically come and remove the chesterfield.

Your co-operation is sought in solving this problem –  so that the neighbourhood isn’t  turned into a Brady land-fill.

  • If your usual bin is full – put your garbage in a nearby bin with capacity, or hold it until the bin is empty.
  • Furniture etc. called  311 or 311@winnipeg.ca to have it picked up from your property line
  • If you see someone illegally dumping, please remind them of the City’s rules – and the risk they run of prosecution by the City.
  • If you see a contractor illegally dumping, advise the City of the license plate and particulars so that they can prosecute.
