Assault, Riverpath by Burrows, inc. photos

Man assaulted, robbed
POLICE are seeking suspects after a 33-year-old man was assaulted and robbed near Burrows Avenue Wednesday evening.
Police said the man was cycling on a path along the river near the 100-block of Burrows at about 8:30 p.m. when another man jumped out of the bushes and hit him with a blunt instrument several times.
Two other men joined the attack before robbing the man and fleeing with his bike, police said.
The men are described as aboriginal in appearance, between 20 and 30 years old, with long black hair. Two wore prescription glasses and had bushy eyebrows, police said.
The stolen bicycle is described as a green mountain bike with the word "Cyclone" written on it.
Anyone with more information can call Division 13 detectives at 986-2848, or Crime Stoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).

These two photos show the descent from Burrows (house at top corner, and continuing down towards the river and the "dog leg" before the trail straightens out parallel to the river as it continues southward.

On bike collision avoidance - Cyclists from the south coming north-west up to Burrows have to be extremely careful as bikes travelling in the opposite direction are obscured and frequently don't adhere to the "keep to the right" rule of the road.   Some signage is needed. (Given that most people are right-handed it appears that their natural gravitation is to the left - contrary to North-American road rules)
